Just ONE "Book of the Dead" and it is obtained by using the uppermost portal in the cave.
Upgrades are supposed to allow your trainers to give you access to more powerful items/creatures. Also drops the number of items needed to create potions/enchantments. In the necromancy ring it also adds a more BLOODY look! evil

BTW- isnt the book of the dead in Sinister Cave????
