thanks, ending the conversation seems to have done the trick. I think the version i have is equivalent to version 1.03, It's the D2D version, and the patch doesn't work on it, it just says i have a newer version. So hopefully it came with all the same fixes. just been playing for several hours afterward with no crashes, knock on wood. Thanks again for the tip!
