It is a bracelet with +1 Wisdom, 2 enchantments and other random bonuses (on level 13 I got +31 hit points and 2 charm slots). I figured the Wisdom bonus would be better than a one time smallish chunk of experience, and am still using it on level 33 (I have a better bracelet I can use if I start running into trouble, but until then I might as well keep the Wisdom bonus).

I took the bracer on my first run through, but since that first time, ive taken the 5000 experience...i figured that 1 wis on that item would never get me 5000 exp. Thats just my logic and preference though. 1000 gold gets your choice of 1wis braclet or 5000 experience

To reach level 20 you need 266k experience; for level 34 you need 1,309k experience. With each level of Wisdom giving a 2% bonus (in human form), that works out to about a 20k bonus from level 20 to 34. If you add in the extra experience from level 13 to 20 (which I don't have the numbers for due to the 20 save limit on the Xbox) and subtract off the amount of experience that I didn't get a bonus for in dragon form, I'm still looking at more than a 5000 experience benefit from the bracelet.
If you are going to stick with the bracelet for awhile it gives a better bonus, though at a loss of flexibility in equipment choice (it was quite awhile before I found a better bracelet, anyway).

I do not understand the relation between your own level of a skill and the level of that skill given by an item. How are they related?
Take this case as an example. Say, if my Wisdom is 3, will this item increase it by 1 so that it becomes 4? Or is there something else to think about?
I am asking because there is a tip in the loading screens about this. It always goes away before I can read it.

Yes, the level of a skill is the sum of whatever points you have invested yourself plus any on equipment bonuses (up to the level cap). At least in the Xbox version of the game, the skill window will list the total points you have, while the detailed description will show what you have learn yourself, and equipment bonuses separately (ie is will show '(3/5) + 1'). In your example you would have level 4 of Wisdom. If you went and got Rothman's bow (as a quest reward for saving him from a troll), then you would have level 5 when the bow was equipped, but level 4 if you were fighting melee (I used Rothman's bow for quite awhile, and made sure I switched to it before turning in quests, etc). If you found another item with a Wisdom bonus (talisman of the north, etc) or put a skill point in yourself, you would still only have level 5 of the skill, until you got the battle tower and had you trainer increase the level cap for Wisdom.

You are right it will increase it to 4. Example: I found an amulet in broken valley that gave +1 to undead. Although I never invested my skill points in undead I was still able to use it.

I guess im just an instant gratification person... hehe, last time i finished i was level 36 and i really dont see a need to go beyond that personally. of course i was a MAGE using Magic Missile, Fireball, and Firewall which made it easy.... I was running thru the village the other day and thought someone called me a Lilly Livered Lackbrain!!!!! And that the goblins would laugh their ugly green asses off at me!!!!!!
