It has been awhile since I played through that part; I thought it was on the ground just after the spine section turns to solid ground, though the
walkthrough says just in front of the blood alter. It is darker than the ground. I don't really recall the size (a little larger than a barrel top?), but from a distance I caught a glimpse as I was moving around and thought it was a body at first.
