Pre-expansion, I like to think of the good ending as this:
You try to enter the Maxos temple and encounter Rhode and the Dragon slayers. She detects the Dragon Knight aura of you, and orders the Slayers to do so. There is an honourable combat, which you lose without taking a single Dragon Slayer with you.
