Did you reply to the email with the negative results? That may have been their default response for anything graphics related, and followups could be more detailed (I'd hope so, anyway... if not, try support@larian.com).
Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game?
ATI's MOM program, at least, can cause this problem.
The fact that you can play other games fine means the problem is probably not a hardware issue. I'd be willing to bet all of those games have had conflicts on other systems, though, requiring someone else to do some troubleshooting and manipulations to try to get them to work.
