What an incredibly refreshing RPG this is.
I am so tired of the auto-leveling monster RPGs that exist today. I can play just about every other RPG on XBOX 360 and *never, ever die*. Divinity II isn't an auto-leveling RPG. Finding better weapons actually creates the feeling that you have upgraded your damage capacity. One fight you can't win with a newbie sword is easily won with a couple of better weapons! Why has this fact been lost in every other RPG? Upgrading your skills really does make a difference! Being able to build any kind of character you want is the best way to make an RPG. I'm a dual-wielding female who shoots magic missles to soften up my enemies before thrashing them with double swords. But even then, the game is challenging, which is exactly the way an RPG should be!
I've been playing Divinity 2 now for about 5 hours and it is truly refreshing.
I actually feel like I'm playing an RPG again. Thanks, Larian.
Yes, it isn't a perfect game, but it's shaping up to be one of the better RPGs I've played over the years. I think the graphics could be smoother and cleaner, but it isn't bad enough to sour my taste. I prefer the music in the original Divine Divinity to Divinity 2, but then I have only seen a small fraction of the game and its music to this point.
If you are a true RPG fan and you're not sure whether or not to buy Divinity 2, don't hesitate. The RPG experience we RPG addicts crave is all here to be had. I'm enjoying every moment of it.
Well, then, excuse me for now. I'm going back to Divinity 2 to have some more RPG goodness.
