I didn't realise that I could simply transform back into a human anywhere, I went behind a waterfall and explored inside, but I couldn't get anywhere because there was a door blocked by 3 statues which I guess I gotta finish the quests for.
and then I went into some cave and now i've gotta fight some Barnabus guy. anyway it seems i've figured it out thanks!
