your friend can get the one on her hand re-inked if she wants...
there are a few good rules to go by when tattooing:
1- don't get a band tattoo. unless you're in it, and you're really good.
2- don't get someone's name tattooed on you, unless it's your child or a tribute to someone who has died.
3- never get a drunken tattoo. ever.
4- once you have your design sit on it for a few months at least. carry it around with you and look at it a lot. make sure you still like it after staring at it everyday for a while.
5- don't let anyone talk you into anything stupid. that includes the artist.
6- don't let your friends practice tattooing on you, unless you know for sure that they will be good tattoos.
I did all those things for more then 15 years, the design has been made about a year ago, I still love it, and I have absolutely no regrets getting the tattoo. To be honest, I wanted a tattoo since the day I discovered it on the arm of a friend of my dads, that man died, but I still remember him. I was about 6 years old.
One thing I would like to add on the advices here: Never ever have a face tattooed, not from a picture or a face from a image, faces are very very hard to do and mostly the expression is lost in the tattoo.
