In this stunning finale to Divinity II - Ego Draconis, the Dragon Knight spreads his wings once again as he seeks to free the Divine from his astral prison and save Aleroth from the Black Ring's overwhelming assault.

If the Dragon Knight succeeds, does that mean that the Divine One will return and become the hero once again in Divinity 3? I could see that working. Let's say that in getting free, he loses most of his powers and has to start out at level 1. No one will believe that he's the Divine One, since the Divine One was killed decades ago, and he needs to spend a lot of the game doing something to restore his divine powers.

Then, after that, it's time for him to confront his son, and once and for all, correct the mistake he made.

Does that sound like a plausible direction that Larian will take Divinity 3?

Of course, that might require losing flexibility on character creation, like say, his name, gender and appearance, which were established in Divinity 2. But that could have benefits like full voice acting for the main character.
