Argh! I am also on Windows7 64 bit, and have reviewed all the compatibility errors for the inventory bug (which is what got me started trying to fix the game).
The problem I had, however, was that I couldn't GET the game to run in 98/ME compatibility, even after the 1.49 patch. So I uninstalled, which didn't work correctly either, and then reinstalled (which I had to do manually because the bad uninstall stopped the CD from recognizing the need to reinstall)...and then patched. And then rebooted.
All to find I've STILL got the same problem with the 98/ME compatibility mode. Which is to say, it will not start at all. No opening movie, no anything except for a subtle shift in the screen that tells me the graphics adjusted, and then they go back and the game doesn't load.
I renamed the intro file, too. Didn't help.
PLEASE help me! I was really enjoying this game, and want to play it right, with a functioning inventory (the bug affects charm usage a great deal since you can't click on some of the gear).
What can I do?
