when i fought amdusias, i hid behind the ridge in the path to lure him closer, then pulled the sword of arben on him. u want to stay as close to him as possible to keep him from firing arrows.
P.S. if you're really lucky, and jump at just the right time, u can jump over the arrows so they dont hit u. i still dont understand y arrows in divinity II r heat seeking.
