Larian Studios Forums Divinity 2 - Ego Draconis (English) Help/Tips/Tricks What do I do with all of these books I'm finding?

Is there any reason to save the books I find that don't seem to do anything but add a little story or flavor to the game? They are beginning to clutter up my bag and I don't want to sell them without knowing if they are worth keeping.

Once you have read that type of book (that are not quest related) they can be sold or destroyed. I hung on to a few unique books (diaries, etc), but sold any randomly generated books that can show up more than once (the various 'history of' series, etc).

Thanks. I'm surprised at the vast amount of books I've already found, and they really seem to serve no purpose. That will be a lot of free space!

Some books are just for atmosphere, some contain hints, etc, and some provide a history of various groups or regions.

Farmer Jackson's diary is in the quest item section of your inventory and will remain there, since you can not get rid of it (some quest items are removed after the quest is done, some are not). Items in the quest section are not counted towards your inventory capacity, though (nor are a couple pieces of equipment that are quest related, which you can not sell or destroy).

Ah good, then I'll ignore that section. But for the other books, time to do some donating to the local merchant.

I always sell books off after I read them and I make some "notes" if I think the info come in handy later on.

This is a bit off topic but I find myself a little miffed that I can't do anything with these books. In the past in games like Morrowind I would collect tons of them to display in my home. There were actually enough copies of them that I could also place them across lava rivers to make bridges. Just one of the many things you do in a game once you have literally done everything else.
