I am dreadful at platform jumping and at the moment I'm in a room of the Maxos Temple in which there are endless platforms ouch
[This is the area of three rooms where one has a small cup to find, one has a pumpkin and the last one (the one I'm in) has lots of platforms.]

After an incredible number of pathetic jumps I have finally managed to get to the last two or maybe three platforms close to the top of the room - but these last ones are totally defeating me.

Can someone please offer some platform jumping tips ??
No matter if I take a running jump from the back end or a smaller jump from nearer the front edge (of the platfrom I'm on) I constantly fall to the ground before reaching the next platform rolleyes

thankyou

Are you at the platform where there are 3 levers to raise or lower 3 movable platforms? You need to move them to a staircase like formation to jump up to the end.

1. Adjust the distance from the edge of the platform you are jumping from. I found that while initially I started at the far edge to give myself a running start, I actually achieved fairly consistent results by giving myself only a very small area to run.

2. The Maxos Temple jumps will actually become quite easy and routine once you get the knack.

3. The Barnabus jumps are horrid. I hate them and don't even bother with them. I have never succeeded once I get up to that jump at the top where you have to go over the sinking platform and land on the moving platform. I sincerely hope that they leave jumping out of the Flames Expansion. The only good thing I can say about the Barnabus jumps is that it is not an essential quest. Those jumps should be taken out of the game. Horrible. Too dang hard. No fun at all.

Hi - And many thanks for the replies up

Glad to say I've at last managed those remaining few jumps and so been able to progress further into the game cheer

Should I be scared though, about the "Barnabus Jumps" mentioned ?? aargh

I sincerely hope they are avoidable hahaha

It is not as obvious which way you need to go with the platforms in Barnabus' cave compared to Maxos temple (though still relatively straightforward), but the jumping itself isn't any harder. There is lava in part of that section of Barnabus' cave, though, so a missed jump may result in a reload rather than restarting (you'd likely be saving periodically anyway, so you could reload without having to redo many of the jumps).

You can avoid that section if you wish, though would miss the relevant quest.

Playing on an Xbox I didn't find the jumping very difficult, though it was a little tricky in a couple places. Normally I don't care for jumping onto moving platforms, and probably would have had a much more difficult time on PC with a mouse and keyboard (playing Psychonauts on PC I did much better with a gamepad than keyboard).

Hi smile

I am hopeless with anything other than a mouse and keyboard !!
[My young Grandson puts me to shame hahaha]

But thanks for the "hope" as I don't want to miss any quests if I can help it cool

Could I get some more advice, please ?? smile

Before I go further into the Maxos Temple or venture into the poisonous first room of the Temple of Doom eek I'm trying to gain experience points by finishing up other quests - one being the finding of the four parchments.
I have three of them and I think the fourth is somewhere across the river from the Tribal Shrine, in a really high up spot ??
But I can't find a way to get there.
I've crossed the river via that log a dozen times at least now and searched every which way but never found a route that will take me up to the right place on the tops.

If finishing this quest is worth the hassle wink could anyone please point out a successful route ??

Thanks biggrin

After you cross the log bridge, just keep going; the path will double back and lead up the mountain. At the top you will reach a stone bridge you can cross to get to one of Bellegar's shrines and find the parchment, or you can continue and find 3 sleeping people.

I'm back hoping for more help laugh

Done practically all the side quests for Broken Valley now so I think I mainly need to tackle the Temple of Doom and then finish up at the Maxos Temple ?? Except I can't even make it out of the first room in the Temple of Doom eek

I'm playing the PC version and have read lots of posts here about "following blood trails and bodies" and "sticking to water" but there's blood and bodies all over the place and I can't decipher any particular "path" to follow. So I end up dead before I've even worked out which way to head for an exit confused

[I know .... I'm pathetic hahaha]

Still. Is anyone able to help, please ??

BTW. Should I be asking for this kind of help on this board ?? I'm new here and I've been reading about the "spoiler" issue.
So if I should be asking elsewhere, please just let me know where - and I'll go bow

Thanks.

Temple of Doom-- at level 10 it is hard, but doable. At level 13 it isn't tough at all. There is blood on the ground. Follow the red smears. A ranged attack of some type works best, since in order to melee against the ranged attackers you will wind up leaving the trail. But even with melee, if you continually gulp potions although it is tough, it can be done.

From the entrance, walk straight ahead to where Jargon was standing, turn left and the blood and body trail may be more obvious.
Here is a link to a YouTube video showing the full trail, from someone who went back and ran through it again (so there is no combat or other distractions).

The D2:ED Help/Tips/Tricks forum would be more appropriate for this type of question than the general forum, but there is a fair bit of overlap.

As for spoilers, you started out mention the area you were in, so anyone not having played that part yet had the opportunity to quit reading. The main problem with spoilers is revealing plot points, or giving too much detail if someone just wants a hint for what to do. Mentioning a fight or trap in a general location is kind of a spoiler, depending on how it is phrased, but not usually something that would spoil someone's experience with they game if they had advanced warning.

Wait till the door closes pop a potion and wait for everything to go DARK. There will then be a trail of LIGHT to the left, so long at you stay in the light you will not be poisoned. Be warned JUMPING will take you out of the light.

Hi smile

I've "dealt with" Amdusias (and returned the stone to Lovis) and now have four new quests in my Logbook - which I have to complete before I can go to Sentinel Island ??

However, I can't find any clues as to who to see or where to go next stupid

Could I have just a small hint, please ??

Thanks grin

Those new quests will have to wait until after Sentinel Island in order to complete, so you can go there right away. One of the hallways on that level of Maxos temple (opposite the chamber with the bedrooms upstairs) had been blocked by a barrier, but is now open.
However, your first encounter on Sentinel Island you can mindread to go up a level, so the higher level you are (I made it to level 18 in the fjords) the more of an experience bonus that will be. You don't need to get to a high level, but it would be better if you got to a new level before entering, to get a full level bonus.

I've not been in the fjords at all. Is that where I should go next then ??
[I'm at level 15.]

After giving Lovis the stone, I did try to get to Sentinel Island (after meeting Damian and killing a couple of his men) by using the teleporter.

I found myself in a small room where I read a book and was told I could enter the Battle Tower.

But I couldn't find any way out of the small room !! Am I missing something glaringly obvious ?? shame

You do not need to go to the fjords first, but it is a bit of a waste if you mindread to go up a level but were almost there anyway. When I first went to the island I only needed 3k experience to get to level 16, so reloaded and went to fjords (saving each time I leveled, so I could reload and head to the island at the very start of whatever the highest level I could reach).

In the room at the start of the island, from the pedestal with the welcome message, head down the corridor, go left or right around a wall and exit out the door on the other side (if the wall wasn't there you could just run straight to the door from the pedestal).

I've just gone through to Sentinel Island thankyou

Why I didn't find that door before is a mystery. I can only think I must have run round the wall - and back again - and didn't realise it.
[What a dunce silly]

Anyway, I'll go back to my last save and return to the valley and try the fjords first instead .... in case I can level up some more.

Thank you. I'm really grateful for your help grin

EDIT :
I was too weedy for the foes in the fjords so went to Sentinel after all.
Doing OK there though and enjoying myself delight
