IIRC the portal in Stone's fortress is fairly high up, on a small platform.
You can also return to Broken Valley from the start of the fjords (up the path from the Grand Knight teleporter shrine), either walking or flying.
Thanks. I had the thought last night that maybe the portal was *inside* the fortress, so I'll check on that in a minute. But first I'll look way up in the air like you said.
Edit: You were right, it was way up high. I looked about as far down as possible, but I didn't think to look *up*! Doh!
