Ive been both frequenting & running forums for over a decade and have never had a problem with fake posts designed to direct people toward certain links.
I guess the good news is that this type of post is easily reduced by requiring character verification (type "*****" in the box below) at registration and prohibiting links in a sig. Both are easy modifications for pretty much any forum.
