So you get into the narrow pass itself? There may be a cutscene triggered there (don't recall), which is causing the crash.

Have you spoken to Casper, a little south west of the pass? I'm pretty sure there is a brief cutscene the first time you approach. If that was the problem, though, there should be plenty of room to bypass him (I assume) if you approach Maxos temple from the north east.

If you get close enough to see the opponents, can you use a bow to draw them to you, without getting close to where the game crashes? Maybe fewer opponents in the area will make a difference whenever the game does whatever it does that crashes.

Do you have access to another system you could try the game on, at least long enough to see if you can get past that point?

First Aid Kit for Divinity II

First Aid : when Div2 does not start or crashes

In XP the saves are in the folder

C:\Documents and Settings\ %username% \Local Settings\Application Data\Divinity 2\Savegames

or in Vista / Win 7

C:\Users\ %username% \AppData\Local\Divinity 2\Savegames

You may need to set Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders (XP, Vista, Win 7).
