Other than the executable file and configuration program, I don't know what changes were made between the disk and download version.
With the listed changes for the patch, the only thing that stands out is the div.exe file, since obviously if you replace the main executable with an earlier version you would at least loose some of the fixes and changes made with the download version. If you restore the 1.05 download version div.exe file after installing the translation patch, there could possibly be conflicts, or you may just end up with a few things in English.
The patched executable may work fine with the download version, if you don't need widescreen support, etc. I think I recall a forum topic elsewhere where a couple people replaced the config.exe and div.exe files with those from the disk version, in order to get non-Direct3D graphics modes back (they were dropped when the configuration program was updated). I'd try with the download version div.exe file first, though.
