I wonder what would happen if you deleted the DLC data, then re-downloaded it, and started a new game with it. I don't suppose you could do this? I don't actually have any pre-order DLC (for any game other than Red Dead Redemption, which works differently than most DLC), so I dunno if it just marks the item in the marketplace as "bought," or of it is a separate item, and deleting it would make you lose it forever. But if it's the forner, it'd be a BIG help. If not, I certainly understand.
I mainly want to provide as much information as possible in my guide about the DLC, but I really don't want to buy any of it myself. Still, knowing the stats are "set" by loading the DLC the first time is nice!
EDIT: Also, do the DLC items count as items in your inventory? As in, can you sell, destroy, and store them in the coffer? (I need each one checked, if possible). Do they actually increment your total item counter, or do they work like "quest" equipment (such as Arben's Sword, Tagos' Axe, and so forth) where they can't be sold and such, but also don't count towards your item limit?
