There are 2 exceptions to the warning: this quest can be done after getting the battle tower (you can only do part of it early, anyway), as can one of the quests on Sentinel Island, that you need to be able to transform into a dragon to do (though in that case you are given a hint that it can wait in one of the dialogs).
