I'm in the Bandits Camp area, going through the tunnel. When I reach an inside area and go through the doors, down the steps and right away, I'm rapidly killed by poison

Is there any way to stop this? A key or lever? Or is it a matter of having anti-poison potions?

Would really appreciate any help

You can avoid the poison (except for one place you need to jump across) by sticking to the trail of blood and bodies. At higher levels the poison would have less of an effect, though your character would complain just as much.
