Umm this is pretty basic but I don't understand the damage statistic in the equipment list. For Arben's sword mine says 26-68+(28-87(in blue)) I can't get the arithmitic to add up to those numbers. Is the first set total damage and the second set with bonuses Or are some number magic damage vs normal damage?

The first set of damage numbers is conventional damage, while the second (in blue) is magical. There are melee weapons and bows that can do some melee/ranged damage and some magical damage; the regular damage gets a bonus from strength (melee) or dexterity (ranged), while the magical portion gets a bonus from intelligence. The name of most weapons will indicate what damage they do; 'normal' weapons do regular damage, 'balanced' do both, and 'magical' do predominantly magic damage.
After finding an enchanter (possible from about character level 10 or 12), you can also add enchantments to weapons for normal and magical damage, if they have one or more enchantment slots (up to 3 are possible, though rare).

Thanks Raze (again) So my Albe's Sword has 6-42 melee damage. I have a +12 normal damage enchantment which would make it 18-54. Then the weapon has a +4 to melee damage making it 22-58. So the missing 4-10 points is a combination of a strength bonus and the two handed expertise bonus? And on the magic side the sword has 7-46 and it has also a +12 magic damage enchntment making it 19-58 so the missing 9-29 points is an intelligence bonus? Seems like an awful lot but the main thing is to add it up to get a total when comparing weapons and if the weapon you are comparing it to is not charmed or enchanted you can take that into account. I am trying to decide to get rid of it and get a better weapon. I am at the point where I can give it up. I don't want the dead weight if there are better weapons down the road.

The damage bonus from stats is percentage based (see Character Optimization, and in game check out the description of the stats to see their current effect), and an intelligence about 50 would give that bonus.

I generally just looked at the base weapon stats when comparing, though the overall character stat changes could be useful to compare multiple bonuses (ie with low levels of the dual wield skill, your off-hand damage is low anyway, so it may not make any difference to your overall damage if you go with a lower damage weapon with better bonuses).

I browsed that thread but not carefully enough to see it. I will review it now. Yes my character is very smart. Me? Not so much lol. My intelligence is 49; includes a legendary ring of the avenger and a heroic curass of hope adding 3 points of intel each. Just about ready to off Ba'al. I am at level 29 and summon a level 10 ghost, a level 10 fireball, a level 10 poison arrow, and a level 1o whirlwind. I almost got 'em. My ghost didn't heal me fast enough. I should have drank a greater health potion (or is it drunken?)
