You can find 3 small chests outside around the Maxos temple area...
One is behind the teleporter shrine, and the other 2 are by a rock/tree in the northern corners of the area, to either side of the temple building.

ZixZax is involved in a couple quests (translating the 4 parchments, once you have them all, and something else), and can be mindread.
In Divine Divinity Zixzax 'borrows' the teleporter stones when you enter the castle, but you can get them back after you rescue Zandalor and have him teleport you to the council hall. He makes an appearance in Beyond Divinity, as well, that time to give you a teleporter stone.
