I had a poison aura or two on jewelry I was wearing when I talked to Casper, and the whole conversation chickens kept wandering by, randomly exploding into clouds of green smoke. There were a few left when I was done, but I don't think killing all of them would have any impact on the quest. The white chicken should be in the shrine area just to the south of there, among other chickens.
