Greetings,

Yesterday, I have read a review about Flames of Vengeance that has prevented me from instantly buying it... Basically, it said that, if I played Ego Draconis without completing it, my saves will not be compatible with the remastered version of the game. I do not know, however, if they were talking about the whole Dragon Knight Saga package or about Flames of vengeance.

As you can imagine, I'm not especially inclined to start over, especially since I had to do that already when I lost my saves in a poorly prepared computer reinstallation...

So, if I install Flames of Vengeance, can I play right away with improved graphics and everything's fine ? Do I have to beat the "old" game THEN install FoV, which would mean not enjoying the remastered version ? Or is it so good that anyway, I really, really should restart anyway to enjoy the most of it ? biggrin

For your information, if you can read french, the review is here :

To further add to my confusion, the review is titled "dragon knight saga", but it ALSO mentions things about Flames of Vengeance alone...

I'd really like to install FOV right away and start enjoying all the new stuff, but I REALLY don't wish to start over. So, what's the truth here ?

Previous saves are compatible with FoV, and after installing it you will be able to load your latest save and keep playing, or you can create a new level 35 character and begin at the add-on content (you can do that in DKS, as well).

DKS contains too many changes to enemy placement and loot generation, etc, to maintain saved game compatibility with D2:ED.

There should be a patch released soon to convert D2:ED + FoV into DKS, so you could install FoV now and continue, and hopefully have a (very large) conversion patch available (which would break compatibility with previous saves) before you want to start a new character and play again from the beginning.

Thank you very much for this answer, it makes things ALOT clearer.

I guess I'll wait a bit and see how things turn out with that patch before I decide what to do.
