Check for the permissions that you have to edit the file. You have to be admin to do that.

Awesome, It works great! sitting around 40-80 fps according to fraps . And Finally, the menu lag is gone ^^!

I have the DVD install of the game but I still can't install the hotfix, it dosen't seem to know that I have instaled the game.
What should I do??

Which dvd version do you have and which hotfix are you trying to install?

May I ask how you guys with Steam version are finding the hotfix? I tried the one on the support page that was for digital download but I get this:

'This hotfix cannot be applied. Or the game was not installed, or the game version does not match.'

I know it is still officially stated here that the Steam patch isn't out yet but then people are saying it is, so I'm kind of confused now lol.I tried looking for any updates for the game on Steam's client but have had no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's on steam now, so the fixes are removed from the website, just update your game on steam.

I'm not sure what you mean. But I have an English version of the game and I'm trying to install the hotfix for that, and can't. I tryed every hotfix just in case and it didn't work.

What is the error message that the hotfix installer for the english dvd version gives you?

It says that something like, I haven't installed the game or I'm using the wrong hotfix, but like I said I tryed them all.
This:
"This hotfix cannot be applied. Or the game was not installed, or the game version does not match."

What is the version number of your game (right lower corner in the main menu)?

Can you run this command:

regedit.exe /e div2settings.reg HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DTP

and send me the content of the resulting file in a pm?

For the version it shows v1.4.9.32.
As for the comand i copy/paste it in the window, it show's a file but when I run it nothing happens.

It seems that the patch for the Steam version is now automatic. It seems to be a ninja patch though ( no patch notes or showing anything was installed) at least it was for me. I spent half the day trying to find the patch when come to find out it had already patched as I was able to go into my config file and change it. Go figure. lol

If it writes out a file you do not need to run it, it won't do anything, it's info I need, can you pm it to me? Thanks.

For the record, impulse version works perfectly fine with the hotfix.

Being able to turn off that FPS limiter is pretty awesome too

I have the English Retail DVD v1.4.9.32 and I also have the same problem as The EvilAlex. Mine also says:
'This hotfix cannot be applied. Or the game was not installed, or the game version does not match.'

I've tried every hotfix and I've even re-installed the game and also ran the hotfix as admin with no luck. If anyone knows how to remove the 30 frame cap on the game please let me know or if anyone can tell me how to get this hotfix to work I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time and help.

Hello everyone.
I have the French DVD of Divinity 2 The Dragon Knight Saga. After installing it, I updated it in 1.4.9.32 version (the latest) and two files appeared in the data folder of the game : Config.XML and globalswitches.xml.
As written everywhere on the forum, i changed the value of the FPS to 0 (instead of 30) in order to have no limit on the framrate. But after saving, i see that the game is always running with low FPS. To see my FPS in-game, i have opened the globalswitches.xml and change the value 0 into 1 to show fps, but the FPS didn't draw on the screen even after. So i don't understand, can somebody help me?

What the value did you change? It's called render_framerate="0", but there is a lot of directives with default value "0".

Also, you always can use FRAPS tool to see your FPS.
