One tip we learned from the harder version (ED) was to raise vitality up early on as you'll get a lot more hp. The first few levels should be dumped into vitality, I got mine up to 20 before adding into other stats. Other advice:

-don't use shields they are pure junk (still) go duel wield/2-hand sword.
-don't go mage, mana costs too much
-keep minimal stats to wield decent bows for sniper attacks. Or keep minimal strength to fight melee when an archer.

This game is far, far easier than ED and that isn't a good thing. Last night I played without the over balanced weapons, I got a level 10 weapon that dealt 65 added magic damage. Considering melee is 17-38 and magic was 1-5 that is too unbalanced. Weapon should have 6.5 extra magic damage.

This is bug if I've ever seen one in a game and hoping a patch is released soon to change the extra damage. All that is needed is a moved decimal place.

Last night I played without using the over powered weapons from my current saved game and the game still felt too easy but was more of a challenge as I had to use potions. I still played wreck-less jumping in the middle of mage attacks and was able to survive.

Every time there I run into trouble on the road, there is always a dwarf at the bottom of it. Don't they know how to drive above ground?
