Really, you know how my body works?

Seriously, you can tell me what is causing me to get motion sickness and what doesn't without seeing it?

I've played games, before I improved my system, with their highest settings, so I can see all the picturesque views (Farcry for this example). I was getting between 27 and 35 FPS. I'd get sick after 30 mins. I took a lot of breaks and kept returning after the sickness would go away.

Eventually I tried lowering the graphics settings so I could maintain over 40 FPS. All of a sudden I could play for at least an hour without feeling sick. I then tried the same thing with every new game I got. Sure enough, when I had FPS in the 30's, I would get motion sickness from 30 mins to 60 mins of play, when I had 40+ I could last over an hour, and with over 50+, I could play all day long if I wanted. (I may notice an ever so slight tenge of sickness if I play for a long enough time, but nothing really uncomfortable).

The same issues occured with Morrowind, Oblivion, Crysis, and just about any game where I controlled movement with my mouse. It seemed a lot of MMORPG's I played didn't make me sick when I used to keyboard turn. As soon as I played those same games with the mouse, I had the same issue.

After learning what affects me, I convinced some friends of mine, who refused to play 1st person shooters for the same motion sickness issue, to try using lower graphical settings for more FPS. Now they can play 1st person shooters.

Count yourself lucky.

You may be fine playing with low FPS, but you are not the only person, it is different for other people.

Yep, its true in some cases. Even though it doesnt bother me nor does it happen to me, i do know a lot of gamers that some games give massive motion sickness problems, and others don't. Its not always about the FPS (sometimes is) though. Sometimes it depends on the brightness of the game, the eye strain on particularly fast paced screen refreshes, sometimes even depends on how much information the brain has to process per second (for example if its a game focussed around the edges of the screen or mostly on the center, or the amount of ambient movement).

Its realy hard to explain why some games do give bigger problems than others, but its definately not just on the Frames per second the eyes/brain has to process. Some people even have a lot of problems playing with V-sync disabled because of the screen tearing.

I need to resurrect this thread.

I've received the game "Divinity 2 - Dragon Knight Saga" German retail version yesterday on Christmas eve and loaded the newest patches from this page before running the game: http://www.larian.com/dragonknightsaga_support.php. My game version now is 1.4.9.70.

When I started the game, I was TRULY shocked about the performance. I thought to myself "This can't be!". After decreasing all graphic details without any effect to the positive, I've started searching the web for my issue. And then I found this very thread and debate. Oh my god, if I had known that there's a 30 frames cap in the game...:(

To make a long story short, I want to escpae from the 30 FPS cap. I don't have a high-end gaming computer to play with 30 frames, it's unbearable. It's really unbearable. I tried to cope with it, but no way.

Well, I've read the whole thread but the Hotfix for the frame cap, uploaded by a Larian member around a month ago, isn't online anymore. The weblink leads to nowhere.

Please help me: How can I switch off the 30 FPS cap on my PC!? What do I need to do? I'm able to edit datas and xmls, so I'll do anything what is needed. But I can't continue to play the game with 30 FPS. It's an insult to my eyes. frown It's just not acceptable.

BTW, there's no Config.XML and globalswitches.xml in my /Data folder. I've updated the game 12 hours ago, so I guess I have the patch 2 without the "Beta" status.

Regards

Larian heard us and corrected that problem. Patch 2 gives you a slider that allows you to kick the FPS rate all the way up to 100 if you want. I moved mine to 75.

I'd like to close by quoting Bellegar's famous last rhyme:

"Cursed be the mother that bred thee!
The wench must have been a hell-spawned banshee!"

Hm!?

I've downloaded the auto updater yesterday and started it. Something with about 140 MB was downloaded, and now I have version 1.4.9.70. Is that the most updated version where I can change the FPS? But there's no slider for the FPS in the graphic settings, nor a config.xml. I got a graphicoptions.xml in my C:/Users/..../Divinity2/Profile/ order but changing the numbers there doesn't work.
