Damien had his own mind, and it was possible he wouldn't go all out on a killing rampage without a really good reason. He didn't hate either Divine or humans at this point. So by my lights the execution of Ygerna was a bad deed. And yeah, I was glad that Ygerna succeded.


In "Child of Chaos", the prequel novella, there was a really good scene between Damian and Lucian where Damian expressed pretty much that thought, that whatever Ygerna was, the Divine took away Damian's ability to decide on his own.
