I killed Amdusias. Got Maxos book off the blood alter but when I go to the room opposite of the hall that leads to the upstairs bedrooms there is a green force field that won't let me in. I don't know if I missed doing something or if it is bugged. I have looked for a switch and can't find one. I am at lvl 19 if that matters. I'm getting very frustrated.

No, he's going to the right place (6) on the map, which is opposite the large room with the bedrooms (5).

Dizzydee, did you actually read the book yet? I think that's the trigger for removing the green forcefield.

Yes I read the book. I had read in the forums that you didn't have to read the book at the altar. That you could read it before you got there so that is what I did. But when I got there with [ spoiler]the blood vial and the dragon scale Amdusias would not change to human form [ /spoiler]
so I reread the book. He [spoiler]changed,[ /spoiler] I killed him easily so I thought great! And then I ran up against the force field. I hate to start the game over. Is that the only way to Sentinel Island? Thanks for your help.

I don't mean the Orbo Arcessos book that transforms Amdusias into a human. I mean Amdusias' book that he leaves sitting on the altar when he's dead. Talana tells you to get it, and when you read it, you get 4 new main quests and Talana makes a bunch of comments about it. Then the force field should be gone.

I remember picking up a book there but can't find it in my inventory. I also destoyed some books to make room in my inventory. I have a feeling that must have been one of them. Again thankyou for your help. Now you know what the dizzy stands for. smile

Oooh, bad idea. If you picked it up, it should be in your 'quest items' inventory. Safe bet to never destroy anything in there.

Hey Dizzydee. Please send a savegame to support@larian.com and describe the problem in that email. Hopefully we'll be able to fix the problem you're having.
