I started a new char in D2 once I downloaded FOV, hoping to get higher/better character for FOV. I got FOV from Larian Vault, downloaded fix and tool. Tool says I can run it Ok. PROBLEMS: Flew up to hi val early, killed a troll, headed down to get more levels before going after demon. Ran into some slayers, one who said he was guarding TP with prisoner in it and his mindread indicated he better get drug for his leader, same as I ran into in D2 but at location next to zeppelin/champion headquarters. Other two just said hi. After leveling and getting rune for chickens, went back to Hi Hall troll cave. I killed everything except on area closed off with runemaker giving the trouble by making trolls. I could not find the ball/s needed to open the passage blocked by some magic. I got the key and died but revovered with quicksafe so if the key is needed I have that. I saw a thread on this subject, the rune troll cave, where your staff said to send the savegame and you would fix it. I do not know if such a fix would take care of the out of place slayers too though... Worse, I have no idea how to send you a savegame. Help!

Hello Art,
I had the same problem with the Trolls, but I had a good save game to revert back to to try a work-around.
There are supposed to be a troll near the barrier called 'Troll Rune Keeper' or something like that. When I went the first time, after killing the little trolls, there was no sign of any other trolls. The second time I fought my way quickly to the left barrier, just in time to see the Troll Rune Keeper skip behind the barrier. The third time I jumped over all the little trolls and got there in time to kill the Rune Keeper, thus getting the 'little' balls' that open the barrier and allowing me to complete the quest.
So you can try that.
I'm not clear on what you're experiencing with the Slayers at the training camp. In my version, I'm missing Montagu (the guard who's supposed to be at the door,) but I don't quite follow what problem you're having at that location, and how it figures into your problem with the trolls.
Larian has also been doing a bang-up job of fixing Save game files that are emailed to them. It usually takes them about 24 hours. Here's what I would recomend: 1) Create a Save game from before you enter the Troll cave. If you don't have one, then just send the one you do have and see if they can fix that. Make a note of the date and the time if you're not using a Quick Save game. 2) Quit out of the game and navigate to your [User Name]> Appdata > Local > Divinity 2 > Savegames folder. The folder will have all of your Save games as DXG files. Find the savegamexx.dxg file with the correct date and time, (or use the quicksave.dxg if that's the correct save.) 3) Email the file to support@larian.com. Be sure to mention the language of your game, and the point of origin, (Steam, Larian, retail store). 4) Wait to receive your repaired Save game, and replace it in the folder you got it from. 5) Play until you find the next displaced NPC and repeat the whole process.
I'm winging the instructions, but hopefully that will help.
Good luck.

Quite right picaresque, thank you. Do indeed send a savegame to support@larian.com and we'll fix the problem asap!

I tried to navigate as indicated but had no luck finding a savegame folder though I had savegames and quicksaves. I went to my local disk< c:; checked under opa, name i selected, but though I searched found no appdat file, so figured that must be divinity folder. I could not find, even using the windows vista search. any savegame files for divinity2 or FOV, jsut a savegame folder from 2009 for different game. Sent a diagx data file and lots of hope

Under Windows Vista you can find your save games here: C:\Users\ %username% \AppData\Local\Divinity 2\Savegames.

Art,
with vista and win7 the appdata folder is hidden.
1. open up 'my computer' 2. top left click on 'organize' 3. select 'folder and search options' 4. click on the 'view' tab 5. in the window scroll down and click 'show hidden files and folders' 6. near bottom click 'apply' 7. near top click 'apply to folders' when prompted click 'yes' 8. click 'o.k.' then close all open windows.
now, you can open 'my computer' go to 'c:\users\opa' and you should see the appdata folder. inside the appdata is the 'local' folder which contains your Divinity II stuff.

Very Helpful. I am learning stuff I never knew about my computer. Thanks. Sent my save game some hrs ago now, before I backed up computer. I understand it takes time to get a fix and will start a warrior type, maybe, or wiz.

When I opened savegames just now, after being able t o see the folder, I saw a bunch of 2000kb+ saves. With 500mb drive, and 2mb per save, seems I will run out of space unless I delete some saved games. How do I do this easily for all but say my last few saves under any given character name? This was SENT In addition ot email as response to note I shoujld be in High Hall after i opened save that was sent as correction. What is exact procedure to open an attachment, do you put it in the fov folder, or in the d2savegames folder or? and How? Please start as though you were doing it correctly from the emial attachment step by laborious step. You have been great on this and I can always play a different character while working the bugs out of fov on another!
