I played Ego Draconis thru a couple of times, but now I'm playing DKS and I don't recall any quick slot problems.

I am only able to put a spell in the first quick slot. I am at level 5, but can only load a fireball, or my undead or poison individually but not all at the same time.

I am playing DKS with the patch.....I checked here I couldn't find this to be an issue with anyone else, or at least I couldn't find this problem in any of the headers.

Can someone help? TIA

How are you assigning skills to quickslots? There are a couple of ways:
1) Keep the numerical key on your keyboard pressed for +- 2 seconds.
2) In pause mode, right click on the slot you want to quickmap.
3) In the skill screen, drag the skill icon to the quickslot.

Which of these options are you using and can you try the others?

Just to add my tuppence worth, I've always had problems with options 2 and 3: they work okay on an already assigned slot, but if a slot is empty it seems that only option 1 works successfully. I was never sure if it was a bug or just "one of those things"...

I must be an idiot. I never had an issue with just dragging and dropping the skill to a quick slot. I played D2ED thru at least three times playing that way.

This little issue had me stumped. Anyway, I was able to fill the first three slots, so I presume, I'll have no further probs with the quick slots. It got to be cumbersome playing and trying to cast from the pause/unpause mode.

P.S. After using the first option to try to fill the slots, and then taking all the stuff out of quick slots and putting the stuff back, I can merely "drag & drop" a skill or potions, etc., like I used to...go figure

I haven't had any problems with dragging, but I found you have to aim for the very bottom of the slot (aming for the centre didn't register a 'hit'). Wait until you see the spell icon appear in the slot before releasing the mouse.

Sometimes the first time I mouse over an empty quick slot I can assign a short cut.

I use a 4th option: I left click the slot which gives the option to assign an action.

I am sorry to report that this problem I've had with quickslots has happened again with the Dragon skills. This time, I am able to get the skill slots to highlight, but I can't get the Dragon Breath spell to load. Even tho' I have 2 points in the spell, it's not useable.

I have the fireball and the heal spell in slots 1 & 2 respectively. I had one point in Dragon Point and added another point in DBreath hoping that might help, but it hasn't. When I bring up the items and skill menu, DBreath does not show up as a skill available to me. The other two do.

I have tried all of the suggestions above which worked for me before and DBreath is not movable from it's slot. I also applied the new patch hoping that would help, but it hasn't.

The game plays okay and perhaps I can do w/o DBreath for most of the game, but certainly not for the HOE.

I will have to do a levelup again and try an add another spell to see if I can get another one to work. I'll try the Polymorph next.

I am not sure that this is fixable, but am a bit disappointed.....I wasn't sure about continuing on with this thread here or staring a new one, but decided to continue here because it's the same issue. If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.



P.S. I just leveled up and added Polymorph skill; the new skill is not available to me, nor can I move it to the quickslot, although I can click the quickslot; the slot will highlight, but the spell will not move to its assigned slot, and I again tried all the suggested solutions. No joy! TIA.

Breath is NOT hotkeyable. It's permenantly attached to your Left mouse button. That is so that you can pursue an enemy and keep burning it by holding the Left mouse key down.

Thanks for advising me of that...I played this game thru 3 times and never gave that a second thought. Embarassed....


But, the Polymorph thing should go in the quick slot, shouldn't it? Thanks for your help.

You cannot use, activate or hotkey skills unless you have at least 1 point in them. You never said that you assigned any points to that spell.

Yesterday I remarked that by moving the mouse pointer outside a skill slot but yet in the skill bar, the skill slot finally activates after few tries.

Just move the mouse in and out of the skill slot until it activates, then left click.

I did add "Polymorph" to my available skills by adding a point. The problem is the slot highlights but I can't get the skill to move into the bar and it doesn't show up on the skill list as being active.

Hopefully, it'll fix itself...I got the other one to work eventually. Thanks again.





P.S. After a couple of more levelups, the Dragon skills quickbar started to work the last round I played. Problem solved but I certainly don't know how. Thanks to all who helped.
