That's because the FoV is not available on Steam, so the version that you downloaded is not compatible with the version of ED from steam.

You can circumvent this by running these two commands:

Change the path to your steam client appropriately.

Beware, you should NEVER update ego draconis via steam again if you install FoV, or the game will not function anymore.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.
