Larian Studios Forums Divinity II The Dragon Knight Saga / Flames of Vengeance (English) Technical problems Importing Ego Draconis saves to new Steam DKS?

Hi there,

I bought the disc version of Divinity II: Ego Draconis many months ago, and played it nearly through (right up until the start of the Hall of Echoes) this past summer. I finally decided to give up and wait until the full revised Saga / Flames of Vengeance pack was available -- mainly for the bug fixes, but also for the content.

So I saw that Divinity II popped up on Steam for $20 yesterday and I grabbed it. Merry Christmas to me! I archived my saved games before I uninstalled the disc version, and today I installed the Steam version. The new installation of Divinity II found the old saved games, but calls them "Outdated" and they can't be loaded. Is there a way I can convert my old files / get the new game to recognize them, or do I have to start all over?

Sadly not: you need to start again. Though I think it's possible to launch straight into the Flames Of Vengeance part as a level 35 character if you don't feel like playing through the first part of the game again.

Ah, well. I wouldn't mind replaying about 80% of ED but there's a couple of fights I never want to do again as long as I live. Guess I'll skip straight to the new content.

I must admit I enjoyed replaying the first part, personally: having a better idea of what I was doing made it a lot less painful during the previously tricky bits, and the remaining parts that I didn't enjoy (e.g. searching for generators in the various forts) have been largely excised from DKS, apparently...
