Could someone tell me where the save games are located? My computer crashed hard and I'm staring at the likelihood of having to reinstall windows on my current (to be formatted) game drive but can't find the save games for divinity II.

Assuming you're on Vista or Windows 7, they're in

c:\users\your username\AppData\Local\Divinity 2

AppData is set hidden by default so you'll either need to tell Windows Explorer to display hidden files or key in the path by hand.

In XP the saves are in the folder

C:\Documents and Settings\ %username% \Local Settings\Application Data\Divinity 2\Savegames

To set Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders: XP, Vista, Win 7.

I found the saved games but cannot open them (they are dxg files) I don't know how to open that type of file.

The game should be able to sort through your list of save files for you when you ask it to load something: don't try to access them directly as their format is largely unknown.

Thanks! I have no saved games other than quick saves and auto saves. There are only one of each at any time listed on my load list! So I can not go back far enough to start the Zeppelin mission over. Having a tough go of it there.

Bummer. I think it's best to put this one down to experience and restart when you feel up to a full play-through again. Probably most of us have learnt the hard way to make frequent permanent saves; probably about one per level-up is a good idea, though I tended to make about one per hour of gameplay and additional ones before (or after) any especially hairy bits...

A while back I read someone lamenting the fact that their 20th birthday wasn't far off because they wouldn't be able to play computer games any longer. I think they were serious. laugh

I'm not quite 61 but it's many years since I was 20. Seems somebody forgot to tell me I'm too old to play. grin It probably keeps my increasingly creaky mind working at any rate!
