Larian gave out novellas for Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity. Does anyone know if any such material exists for Divinity II?

I'm looking for more story material to add to the Divinity wiki.

Currently I only have bits and pieces of the story from in game books. But not enough to pieces together an entire story. Well, at least not for me. If anyone has a good grasp of the entire story, maybe you'd like to contribute it here (and allow me to re-post it in the wiki :),

I don't think there was any additional story material released for D2:ED or DKS. You can quote/edit/etc what I wrote in the topic below, if that is what you are looking for (there is also a link to the fansite kit there, which might have some bits and pieces of story in addition to the BD novella pdf).

can someone sum up the story

Thanks for the link. I may have to take you up on your offer to scavenge your material.

I am aware of the fansite kit, bit it does not include any story for D2. I was hoping either somebody was dedicated enough to compile a novela of their own using the in-game material or somebody from Larian would drop by (hint, hint) to say that they have something. Though I gotta say I'm not holding out for the latter.

People at least figured out enough about the format of the dialog files to get the English text enabled in the German version of the game, so maybe someone playing around with the PC version has figured out how to access the text of the in-game books? I don't recall that being brought up in the forum, though.

Prima was suppose to put out a guide for D2:ED, which they put on their site briefly, changed the listing to 'coming soon' and then canceled. I assume any exclusivity deal has long since expired, so maybe Larian still has some story related stuff around that they had provided to Prima...

I have all the in game text from the books, but not being an avid reader or writer myself I'm not the best person to compile it into a coherent story. Maybe somebody more talented than I would like to give it a shot.

I'll have the books up on the divinity wiki at wikia as soon as there's some semblance of order to the site.

I remember writing quite some text for the official website of Ego Draconis. There's a story summary of the events that take place from Divine Divinity up to Divinity II (which you can also find in the original manual) and there's quite some detail about certain characters, creatures and regions.

Also, if you gathered some of the in-game books, you'll find a lot more story/background concerning the history of the Dragon Slayers (parts I to III), the history of the Dragon Knights (parts I to III) and the history of the Damned One (parts I to VI).

Thanks Macbeth.

I'm actually interested in the story during the game itself. I know it sounds redundant if I've already played it through, but there's so many gaps it seems like I'd be making material up if I tried to summarize it. For instance questions have been raised at this forum concerning many characters including Rhode and Ygerna; additionally questions of my own: how does killing the divine in Ygerna's memory revive her? what should I call those crystals that are holding you and the divine? who actually froze you in there? specifics regarding the events following your presumed mid-game demise and how much time has actually passed? what Zandalor is actually doing the whole time during ED besides releasing a plague? what's the deal with Rivertown (I never played the previous games)? where exactly is Aleroth located on the map? etc.

Like I said I'm not a very good writer. I need to have the complete scoop, even nagging seemingly inconsequential events that have almost nothing to do with the main story, to be able to write something up.

Amazing, I've never actually visited the official ED website. In fact, I almost never visit a website for a game. The industry has made them one giant marketing ad-- the only thing you can actually do these days is download wallpaper, watch a trailer or 10, and grab whatever digital swag they're dishing out. You don't even go there to grab patches anymore, so they've become nearly pointless. I never knew the ED website was an actual resource lol. It's quite refreshing.

Man, you have an opportunity t stop right here, before you get disappointed while searching the answer for the questions.
Believe me, you did better to stop :P

I agree with you. But IMHO when I'm making a definitive wiki I have to be greedy: long forgotten forum responses or new info Larian knows and just maybe willing to share. I understand some of these things are questions that will never be answered; but I'd like to know if they just want to keep them a secret (for the record) or if this is something that simply nobody has asked yet.

For example people still debate the fate of Rhode when it has already been answered. This is the type of material would add great value, because I think many people want the answer.

P.S: I can't stop because I have major OCD! For crying out loud-- I'm drawing maps for areas that have no maps and I'm including on the wiki all the locations each piece of music is heard in DKS.
