OK, first a little bit of background on why I am feeling this way. I bought D2:ED at launch, and let it sit there, as I normally do, and started it about a month ago. I played through the game as an archer, and then again as a warrior/mage hybrid, and couldn't get enough. I go online to research the expansion, and I see that it comes out in April, but then shortly after I see that it exists for the PC! So of course, I instantly download it, and start over for the third time. The game was refreshing enough with the new gear and balancing, I tore through it in 2 days, doing most the important stuff, and getting level 35.

Finally, I get to play the new stuff! ... ... ... OK, I'm stuck in a city... Still there... Still there...

Now I love exploring and figuring things out as much as the rest of you, but after replaying the entire game just to get to this, I'm a little frustrated, and honestly I'd like to rush to some type of combat. I'm now up to the part where I need to get the 5 clues, and I'm about to start playing again, but honestly I'd like to know if I should just look up how to bypass all of this, or if this will be the last "stale" part of this game...

Yes it's well done. Yes it's a great game. I'd just like to fight more then 5 enemies. So in summation, does this get more fast-paced soon? After this much build-up, I'd like to at least level once!

You'll spend nearly all of it in the city (or underneath it, sometimes) or its various buildings, but in spite of the comparatively confined space, I found it was a lot of fun. And, yes, you'll get to fight plenty of enemies and there's lots of levels to be had. smile

Apparently they'd planned to include a large open area originally but decided it would've probably detracted from the atmosphere they were trying to create, and I dare say that it would've been a lot of development effort for perhaps little gain. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing it released as another add-on, though they've made no indication that this might happen.

FoV starts out slow in terms of fighting enemies. I'd recomend just taking your time and carefully exploring the entire city (lot's of houses/buildings to enter and NPCs to talk to).

Talk to all the NPCs, mind read them all and if I were you, I'd put notes on your map where NPCs are located as you will need to run back and forth to various NPCs and it will save you time if you know where they are instead of having to find them all the time (I made this mistake... always forgot where certain NPCs were and ended up having to enter house after house until I found them again).

Eventually, the game will offer plenty of fighting so don't worry about that and just enjoy the non-fighting content until things progress where you fight a lot more.

I actally prefer more adventure elements in my RPG titles, so this is exciting to hear.

My Favorite RPGs: Divinity franchise, Gothic franchise (including Arcania, so I think I'm alone...), Venetica, Risen, Two Worlds II, The Witcher, Sacred franchise, Fallout franchise, Mass Effect 1, Alpha Protocol, Planescape: Torment, Drakensang, KOTOR 1 & 2, etc.

Yeah, for me the same! I think I gonna LOVE the Flames of Vengeance for the non-fighting part!
