By the time Fable was released, there were already many other RPGs out there featuring everything you mentioned (Divine Divinity included). I don't think Fable pioneered anything, to be frank. Fallout was probably the first and came out about 10 years before.

I don't remember much of Fable, but it seemed very linear to me and all your actions in the game -be it good or evil- could be easily annuled by donating to temples.
