1.4.9.70 is the latest version (on Steam and other versions as well), so you're up to date.
I seem to remember that there wasn't much loot dropped by monsters, especially in the lower levels. E.g. when doing the goblin heart quest, it seemed strange that hardly any goblins had hearts...
