I have been saving my potion formulas for quite a long time now, as I hope to get a lot out of my alchemist in my battle tower, which I am just about to take from Laiken.

One of the last things I did before going to the final confrontation with Laiken, was to solve the "Buad Blood" quest in the Watermill in the village in Broken Valley. When I spoke to the "alchemist" in the cellar, I asked him to help out with some alchemy. Which he did, thereby taking away from me several of my best formulas.

Does this mean that my own alchemist in the battle tower (when I get it) won't have access to these formulas? If this is so, I'm tempted to try and find my old save file - even though this means that A LOT of gaming hours will go down the drain. I used up an armor potion formula and a substantial healing formula and whatnot...

Have I lost my formulas? If so, should I reload an old save? Or can I easily replace the formulas in some way?

Your formulas will transfer to your tower Alchemist.

The same is true of creature parts and enchantment formula; any that the relevant person had before taking the battle tower will be available to your servants afterwards.

If you go into the enchantment, potion or creature creation functions, any formula or parts left in your inventory should be duplicates, and can be sold.

That is good to hear. Many thanks!

(This is the kind of mishap that, when it does happen, can really ruin the sense of fun for me in a game where phat loot is a factor. For example, it still bugs me a bit that I once accidentally sold off a rather useful, backup 'pestilential' submachine gun in Borderlands - and of course it was gone from the vending machine when I returned...)

Incidentally, I think this is the only game forum I have ever been to, where one can reliably expect to receive good, informative and neighbourly help within minutes (!) of posting a plea for help.

That is neat!

It also opens for the interesting possibility that all my lost creature parts - the merchants in Broken Valley village keep nicking them from my inventory whenever I make a trade! - will reappear when I get my tower.

But I doubt it. As you've already told me, in reply to one of my former posts, you too believe this one to be a bug. If so, it is one I can live with. I have tempered my hoarding instincts concerning rotten body parts.

At least once you have the battle tower you will have easy access to your necromancer, so can talk to him before trading if you have parts to upgrade.

Have you noticed disappearing body parts when trading with merchants in a character started after installing the patch? AFAIK this issue wasn't mentioned in the patch notes, though, so I wouldn't restart for this if you are still playing with the same character.

If you didn't email support@larian.com about your earlier mention of this problem (Locke is a [SPOILER]?!!!), you may want to do so now. Maybe a save where this happens could help them determine what the problem is, assuming it is with the save itself rather than the game (in the latter case the support tool may help).

If you are so inclined, see Lar's post here on how to send them an Xbox save.

With the PC version, in XP the saves are in the folder

C:\Documents and Settings\ %username% \Local Settings\Application Data\Divinity 2\Savegames

or in Vista / Win 7

C:\Users\ %username% \AppData\Local\Divinity 2\Savegames

You may need to set Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders (XP, Vista, Win 7).

I just might be so inclined.

It isn't just Locke, either. Yesterday I visited the merchant who has set up a table outside the inn, and tested my theory by trying to sell one of the three body parts I then had in my possession. They were still there when I opened the sales window, but the instant I clicked to sell one of them, they all disappeared from the list (without any money changing hands, I might add).

It's a strange thing that no one else seems to have had this problem. But then, I guess this is but one more example of the great mystery of computer ineffability.

As long as this disappearing act stays limited to just body parts (*frantic knocking on wood here*), I'll manage it with frequent visits to my necromancer, just as you suggested.

And no, I haven't started another character after installing the patch. Aren't the updates supposed to apply to existing characters, as well as those created afterward?

Any technical fixes will apply to existing characters. At least in the case of possible missing NPCs, the patch will prevent the problem from happening with existing characters, but doesn't correct it if it has already occurred in the save. There is also at least one fix in the patch that will only apply to new characters (empty containers generated from mindreads; see Macbeth's reply in the topic Loot drop non existent ?!).

I haven't missed any particular NPC:s that I am aware of, and as for the loot I gain from minreads, I'll rather take the loss than start an all-new character.

Thanks for the information!

Wish I knew this, instead of failing the monster quest (feared for all body parts), hogging potion and armor formula's around for hours till I got my battle tower. 0_0
