No, there were too many changes made in DKS to maintain saved game compatibility with D2:ED (redesigned flying fortresses, changes to enemy placement and loot, etc). If you don't want to create a different character to go through the remastered D2:ED section of the game, you can start a new level 35 character at the beginning of the add-on content, though.

Alternately, since you are playing the PC version of the game, you could get the add-on by itself (download only), and finish playing with your current character. With FoV, load your last D2:ED save and there is a seamless transition into the add-on. Once you are done with that character, you can download the (large) FoV to DKS patch before starting a new game. There are no differences in the add-on section between D2:ED+FoV and DKS.

Thanks - I guess what I have to decide is whether it is worth starting again with the new build or whether, the differences are not deep or impactful enough to warrant the expenditure of time and effort involved smile
