I don't get it - I'm level 34 with magic armor rating of 25 and I don't have time to do anything at all before getting bombarded with multiple attacks that do around 150 damage to me - instant death. I barely have time to jump out of the way, let alone summon my demon or creature. I tried reassigning my skill points a variety of ways all with the same result. A level 13 magic blast does 31 damage to him? Come on. I know where the switches are but so what? What kind of armor should I use? What skills should I use? What can I do to avoid being killed instantly? I expected a tough fight but this is impossible.

This sounds like it might be the bug where bosses do super-amounts of damage to you. You'll have to contact Larian support and send them your save-game.

That is a bug. The patch will prevent this problem, but unfortunately if it has already occurred in the save it will not undo it. However, like Stabbey said, if you email your save to support@larian.com with a description of the problem, they can fix it for you.

If you have time to react when the conversation ends, the Hide in Shadows skill might help, with your creature and possibly a summon hopefully taking care of Raze (or at least keeping his attention). A Stun Arrow, or possibly a Rush Attack, or something, may let you finish him off before he can hit you (though you also have the added challenge of him running to a healing chamber if his health gets too low).

One person who ran into this problem (with the PC version) used CheatEngine to fix their health until they got past Ba'al (someone mentioned that Steam may have a problem with the use of CheatEngine, though, even with a single player game).

Where's the trick to Ba'al?

[Not Sure if Bug][Spoilers]Killed Instantly

In XP the saves are in the folder

C:\Documents and Settings\ %username% \Local Settings\Application Data\Divinity 2\Savegames

or in Vista / Win 7

C:\Users\ %username% \AppData\Local\Divinity 2\Savegames

You may need to set Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders (XP, Vista, Win 7).

My game is/was patched to the latest version before I ever set foot in Raze's fortress. I was aware of the insane damage bug but I thought it was fixed in the patch. After changing the difficulty from normal to casual I was finally able to defeat Raze and his minions but I must say I still took quite a pounding - more like hard difficulty. I rather like this game as it isn't just a walk in the park. Although I like to try and figure things out on my own, this segment caused me a lot of grief. It wasn't just Raze that dealt insane damage, but the respawning creatures as well. It seemed like I was wearing armor with a negative class. Anyway, I didn't like to have to resort to going to casual difficulty but at least I was able to finish this part of the game. Thank you Stabbey and Raze for your input once again.

Was it patched to the latest version before you started a new game with that character, though? Saved games act differently compared to other games. Even if all you did before the latest patch was walk around Farglow, and then the game was patched, the old bugs are still there.

I didn't patch my game until about halfway through Orobas. I assumed my Direct2Drive copy was up-to-date. So I guess I've been playing a bugged game all along. Oh well, at least I got my fps to increase. I'm so close to finishing that I'm not going to start over, that's for sure. Thanks for clarifying that.
