hey folks, first time poster. was wondering if you recieved any bonus from wearing a full set of armor or whether you are better picking abnd choosing the best pieces to match your charactor build?

So far I have only got a couple set pieces in DKS, from different sets. In D2:ED the set bonuses increased the more pieces you had equipped (starting with 2), but even with a full set I found better random loot to use. So far in DKS the random loot is not as good as it was in D2:ED (though merchant inventories are generally a lot better) and there were a bunch of sets added in DKS, so the situation may be different. More people have mentioned wearing sets in DKS, anyway.

cheers raze i keep buying pieces but wasnt sure if it was worth it or not. id forgot how enjoyable the game was. first time on original D.2.E.D i played a melee charactor and balance alot of the points. this time im using a mage (with a bow) and finding it alot easier.

theres 2 things so far that i have forgot how to do. i cant find my way into the back room of the cave thats just south of jacksons farm and i just been to the first tower and used the lovis stone and you get to choose from 4 weapons in the basement but there used to be a skill book but i cant find it. also ive noticed that you used to get +1 to magic damage every intelligence level but now you get 0.5 same as strength and dexterity

In the Forgotten Outpost, there is a pressure plate to remove one of the walls.
Facing the broken door, if you could move forward and turn right, you would be looking at the removable wall. Just follow the path around to the end, and look for a pressure plate on that wall, in the line of seemingly decorative bricks/stones.

The skill book should be on a chain near where you start (if you used the scrying stone yourself). From the weapons, it is to the far back on the left, and you may be able to see part of the chain over the wall/column there. I have not gotten that far yet in DKS.

Magic is still over-powered. The magic damage enchantments on weapons also get applied to spells in DKS, so duel wielding is highly recommended (no points in the skill required; the off-hand penalty is not taken into account for spells).

i searched all the walls as that is what i remembered but i couldnt find the false brick. and i searched all over the room for the chain with the skill book. i will reload from my save point prior and i will look again but i think its been removed.

Each piece of a set has one special set bonus property which only shows up (in dark green) once you have two items. That bonus increases with each additional piece of a set until it is complete.

The set bonuses can be well worthwhile. For example, the Flames of Vengeance sets increase either Strength, Dexterity or Intelligence by 20 with a full set equipped.

The Defenders of Aleroth set is excellent for either melee or mage characters, as the full set gives +40 to Magic Damage, and all pieces can be found before entering Maxos Temple.

hey raze, i got the 3 pieces of armor for Defenders of Aleroth set but the weapon is illuding me. the 3rd fortune from Sosostra is that you will fly above the clouds, (first being bunny and second man on bridge) how can i get this as after i learn to fly isnt broken valley covered in poisen gas? i had also read somewhere that the weapon was obtained after getting the 3rd fortune then fighting bellagar but where do you fight him? ive defeated all his summons and then done all of them at once to get the gold pouches but still no weapon.

any ideas?

Approach Maxos Temple, Bel will find you. I can't remember if this was a random encounter in D2ED, but that was the location for me in DKS.

Its not a random encounter. I think after you speak with lovis, Bel will appear in front of the Temple. Not sure, but you may have to fight all of Bel's monsters first too.

The quality of the loot has gone up (in terms of equipment), but at least for the first few levels it is much rarer. Up to about level 7 I only found a couple pieces of equipment as random loot, and on level 8 I found a couple weapons that didn't fit my build, but which could be sold for a half decent bit of gold. I'm on level 9 now, about to go through the derelict tunnels, so I guess I'll see how the chests in there compare to D2:ED.

Terrible loot?
