There's supposed to be one in the urns, but I've checked every one. Can someone point out a specific one it was supposed be in?

To get into the dig site, talk to Heleon- he can be found in Lanilor Lane. He'll give you a key to get in there (as per his quest). breaking the urns in there (at the bottom of the stairs, iirc), will reveal a key.

A word of advice - save the game after finding the key in the urn - there are two places it can be used, but if you get the order wrong, then one of those places will be forever unaccessable.

(But it's not a big deal, even if you do miss it, the unaccesasable place only has random loot anyway).

You definitely have to break them? I tried looking in them and most or all read as empty. But breaking them makes it appear anyway?

Yes - apparently... but I played a mage, so I found the key on the floor (I broke all the urns without noticing when I cast a fireball at an opponent).
