There should be another lever in there which makes a chest appear on the cross beam, that you can then reach via the platforms (that was the case in D2:ED, anyway).
Should be the same in DKS (as far as I can remember off hand).
EDIT: Yeah - there's actually three levers. Two to manipulate platforms to get to where the chest is, the third to make the chest appear in the first place.
