Hello, I play the game on XBOX360. I am new to the game and have a question....
Is it possible to use a sword and still use a mace in the other hand? I want to be able to use both hands but cannot figure out how???
Thanks

In order to duel wield you need to select the off-hand in your inventory (by the character model), hit A and then select the weapon you wish to use (just equipping a weapon defaults to the main hand). There is no problem mixing types of one handed weapons (in the inventory the average damage of both weapons will be shown). Until you raise the Duel Wielding Expertise skill your off-hand will receive a penalty, so at the start of the game the bonuses on the weapon may be more important than the straight damage value.

Hi again... I tried to use the "off hand" by the character model as you said, it was there ( I did not notice it before) I selected it, clicked over to my inventory, clicked a Mace I had, then when I got out of the inventory screen to continue play, my guy was only wielding the Mace, his sword is gone????
Once again I play the game on the XBOX360, here in USA, I know there are different games released everywhere, maybe this game will not allow me to equip a sword and a Mace at the same time????
I do remember when we left the very first town of the game--Farglow- where I trained, met the lady who made my eyes glow ( I forget her name) and picked what kind of player I was to become, I did state I wanted to wield a sword. Did this somehow effect my future ability to use both a sword and a Mace or Axe?
Maybe you can wield an Axe and a Mace at the same time but not a sword and one of them????
Please help, any thoughts are appriciated.
Thanks again.. confused

And you're sure it is a ONE-Handed Sword you try to equip together with your Mace?
If it is a TWO-handed Sword ... of course not possible for dual wielding ...

Your choice of class in Farglow only determines your starting stats, bonus skill and weapon; there are no restrictions after that in the story, quests, equipment or character development.

If it was a one handed sword, are you sure you selected the empty (or shield filled) off-hand by the character model?

I will check it again, I "think" the sword Iam using is a one hander, and I have not used a shield yet, but I will look again...
Also, Are you saying I can go ahead and buy a bow and use bow and arrow as well? I was under the impression, when I left Farglow, she pretty much said that my choice of swordsman was final, so up to now I have not tried another weapon...
UNTIL trying to equip a second hand weapon the other day..
Thanks again cool2

You can use any equipment you meet the level requirements for, and learn any skills you wish. Even for a warrior a bow is quite handy at the start of the game (to draw opponents to you rather than rushing into the middle of a group, and let you get a little bit of damage in first). A mage can use a bow until they have enough mana to just be able to rely on spells, or while waiting for the cooldown time on spells. A ranger or mage can use melee weapons if opponents get too close, though both have other options for close range attacks (Splitting Arrows or Firewall).

Leaving Farglow means you can no longer change which initial bonuses you want, but there are no restrictions on how you develop your character.

On the Xbox you can equip a bow and melee weapons (hold a button/pad direction down for a second to assign an action/skill); whenever you use an attack or skill that requires a certain type of weapon, your character will automatically switch, if needed.
Playing a warrior in D2:ED I assigned X melee attack, A range attack, Y Rush Attack, B whirlwind, left Dragon Stone, right Dragon Morph stone (both after getting the battle tower), up Heal (level 1 comes in handy) and down summon creature (after getting it).

Your choie is not final wink But of course, if you for example left Farglow as a Warrior you've got 1 point in the Skill Wirlwind . As a Mage you got 1 point in Fireball and as a Ranger 1 in Poison Arrows.
But further on you can mix all kind of Skills you like most ... from Priest to Dragon Slayer Skills .... it's all up to you wink
And you can always use all kind of weapons too ... switching between Bow, Sword, Hammer etc, go ahead biggrin

Boy do I feel stupid! Once I unequipped my sword, then looked at the inventory screen, TaDa...TWO open Hands greeted me! I understand that it would be appropriate if one gave me the finger for my denseness.. At any rate, Now I was able to put my rare and quite powerful sword in one hand, and my mace in the other. NOW, this is fun! Twirling Death at my whim aargh
Thanks again for all the advice, I have hundreds of hours in games like Fallout 3, and NewVegas (another good one for questing-scaveging freaks like me bytheway) and hundreds of hours in games like Modernwarfare 2...THIS is my first ever Dragon/Knight/Potion using person, type game... I love it!
I am quite sure I am still early in the game if I have not yet left Broken Valley, and still a level 6, so I look forward to seeing whats next. I am also sure I will probably bug you again for some "easy" help on your part...Thanks

Yes, it goes normally until level 10. After that, it's a bit more complicated, as they used a different equation. So you go from level 10 to 13, then to 17, after that down to 12, if I remember well next is 15, and so on until you've gone through all levels between 10 and 20. Then it goes normal again.

That's pretty much a point where you go "but what were the developpers thin(smo)king ?"
