Anyone interested in this spiritual successor to Demon's Souls? Promised to be more harder than Demon's Souls and with at least 60 hours of gameplay. I was interested in Demon's Souls but never got to play it (I don't own a PS3 and don't intend to buy one for one game) and now that Dark Souls is coming to Xbox 360, I'm certainly trying it out.

You?

From what I've seen it looks pretty good. It supposed to be extremely hard.(YEAH BABY!) I'm the same as you about the PS3. Sure going to look into it. That dark gritty gory stuff gets my jiggy going.

I took this from a site I frequent, sure they won't mind since I am an upstanding community member. d:

Quote
Dark Souls is going to be the spiritual successor to Demon's Souls (a Playstation 3 exclusive), a game known for its difficulty. From Software, the developers of the first game, have said they're aiming to make Dark Souls even harder. Dark Souls has been confirmed to be open-world, and is going to be released on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in Holiday 2011.

Features/Other Things More-or-Less Confirmed at E3:

* Bonfires replenish your flasks and magic stock as well as restores your health to full, but also respawns all normal enemies in the area.
*Magic no longer depends on MP, but rather each spell has stock counts that decrease every time you use them. It is unknown if this stock can be increased or replenished.
* “Strengthen Bonfire” allows you to increase your flask count by 1 for the duration of that play time. It also affects other players in the same way, but the reach of this effect is unknown.
* The Gravelord is equivalent to the Red Eye Stone with a twist. Someone can lay down the Gravelord item anywhere in the game, and what this does is spawns black phantom enemies in a random player’s world as if they were playing in pure black world tendency. That player can then choose to deal with those enemies and continue on, or try to find where the Gravelord item has been placed in the area. If they find it, they can then invade the other player’s world and should they succeed in defeating him or her, the black phantoms will be removed.
* Red Eye Stones are back, but were limited to the Black Knight in the demo.
* One new magic spell confirmed is Lightning Bolt. The character summons a bolt of lightning in his hand and throws it at the enemy like mother*bleep*ing Zeus.
* When dodging while sprinting, you'll do a jump.
* “World Events” will be in the game, though to what extent and how many is still unknown. But in the E3 demos, once players defeated the Belfry Gargoyles at the end of the level, he can proceed to climb a ladder and ring a large bell. Other players in the game that are in proximity of the bell will be able to hear it.
* The Black Knight and Solaire of Astora have both been seen previously in trailers and screenshots. Presumably these are NPCs that were made as characters for the demo.
* Rolling has had a delay added to it, so it can't be spammed. At E3 a player was told it was made more defensive this time around.
* Blocking and armour seem to be more viable.
* Two players can invade the same world at once.
* Water Veil spell confirmed.
* Witches can cast Magic Shield

New Items:

'Gravelord' – See above description
'Esflask' - Used to replenish health. Limited amount of charges, but it seems that the amount of charges can be increased. To replenish the charges you can visit a bonfire. There might still be herbs in the game though.
'Lure' - Much like the Soul Remains from Demon's Souls, used to attract an enemy's attention.
Great Heal – a spell that restores your health for a large amount but takes a very long time to cast

Sadly no Alrik. Hopefully they make one next time, many PC RPG gamers would certainly buy this.

I pre-ordered for the 360. The EU cover looks strange though, who equips a shield on their left arm?!!?!?!?!? I guess you can make a left handed character? The only game I know where you could use a shield on the left arm was Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom but that was only when you were wielding a shield on the right arm, basically you could duel wield shields which was cool.

Demonic, doesn't everyone equip a shield on their left arm? Did you mean right? But yes, in Demon's Souls, you could make a left/right handed character, so I assume Dark Souls will be keeping that aspect because it allows for many weapon combinations, including turting (2 shields) even! Haha. (:

Yep! You're right Twilight, I meant that it's odd for someone to be equipping a shield on their right arm but since you can play a left or right arm character, then I suppose it's okay but it still looks odd on the cover, especially considering the classes are shown with the shield on their left.

It's my RPG of the year people. Excellent combat, crafting, exploration and world. The Convenants also add a role playing element to the game. It's not as hard as people made out though. But maybe that's because I have 1,700 HP and 370 physical resistance.

I've the edition of Dark Souls with the Artbook, a Soundtrack CD and a codecard for visit a Mini Guide . It all looks very nice and I like the CD with Soundtracks most, besides the game itself, obviously !

Hope Divinity III will have such a music soundtrack CD too !! (Limited Edition or something like that, I buy it !) wink
