Dark Souls is going to be the spiritual successor to Demon's Souls (a Playstation 3 exclusive), a game known for its difficulty. From Software, the developers of the first game, have said they're aiming to make Dark Souls even harder. Dark Souls has been confirmed to be open-world, and is going to be released on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in Holiday 2011.
Features/Other Things More-or-Less Confirmed at E3:* Bonfires replenish your flasks and magic stock as well as restores your health to full, but also respawns all normal enemies in the area.
*Magic no longer depends on MP, but rather each spell has stock counts that decrease every time you use them. It is unknown if this stock can be increased or replenished.
* “Strengthen Bonfire” allows you to increase your flask count by 1 for the duration of that play time. It also affects other players in the same way, but the reach of this effect is unknown.
* The
Gravelord is equivalent to the Red Eye Stone with a twist. Someone can lay down the Gravelord item anywhere in the game, and what this does is spawns black phantom enemies in a random player’s world as if they were playing in pure black world tendency. That player can then choose to deal with those enemies and continue on, or try to find where the Gravelord item has been placed in the area. If they find it, they can then invade the other player’s world and should they succeed in defeating him or her, the black phantoms will be removed.
* Red Eye Stones are back, but were limited to the Black Knight in the demo.
* One new magic spell confirmed is Lightning Bolt. The character summons a bolt of lightning in his hand and throws it at the enemy like mother*bleep*ing Zeus.
* When dodging while sprinting, you'll do a jump.
* “World Events” will be in the game, though to what extent and how many is still unknown. But in the E3 demos, once players defeated the Belfry Gargoyles at the end of the level, he can proceed to climb a ladder and ring a large bell. Other players in the game that are in proximity of the bell will be able to hear it.
* The Black Knight and Solaire of Astora have both been seen previously in trailers and screenshots. Presumably these are NPCs that were made as characters for the demo.
* Rolling has had a delay added to it, so it can't be spammed. At E3 a player was told it was made more defensive this time around.
* Blocking and armour seem to be more viable.
* Two players can invade the same world at once.
* Water Veil spell confirmed.
* Witches can cast Magic Shield

'Lure' - Much like the Soul Remains from Demon's Souls, used to attract an enemy's attention.
Great Heal – a spell that restores your health for a large amount but takes a very long time to cast
