The voices are too quiet for me also. I'm not having any trouble with sound when I start the game.

It seems to me that on my 5.1 system the center channel is not being used. Usually the center channel is used for key dialogue (i.e. not stray chatter in the environment but things actually being said to you by someone standing in front of you). After I googled around a bit I found someone saying the same thing on this forum and the official response he recieved was that all sound is 3D positioned and that if you're not hearing the sound out of your center channel then you need to have the person you're speaking to in the center of your screen (not off to the side).

This strikes me as a poor response because, when speaking to someone and getting the dialogue tree, the game *forces* the NPC's face to the center of your screen. Why in the heck wouldn't his voice be coming from the center channel in these situations?

It ruins immersion for me because it makes me read the subtitles to clarify what's being said in such a muffled voice. This bothers me because there was apparantly a lot of work down to create realistic facial expressions and it'd be nice to be looking at the face of the guy speaking. I wish the voice was much louder and that I could turn off the subtitles and only have my avatar's dialogue options on my screen.

Still, it's a great game so far. =)
