What does that mean:
the remastered version was lost by Larian
It was in one of Lar's recent status updates. Larian's copies of the remastered game code (version 1.05) is gone, because someone labeled a CD wrong. This means that if Larian wanted to make any more fixes to the latest version of DD, they would have to start all over from version 1.04.
Hmmm, I'm not sure if I should be amused, or if I should be disturbed that a game developer only keeps one CD of their game's code and then manages to lose it, by mislabeling a CD no less.
It just doesn't make much sense to be honest that a developer would only keep one CD of their own software code, or maybe more importantly that they are not practicing proper precautions by keeping the game code on multiple disks and in multiple locations in case something happens in the one of the locations of the disks.
We always keep important Disked information both in our home office as well as our out of home office, and the really important stuff gets put in a safety deposit box in our bank.
