I don't know you may be right but it could be possible that it is still set after the games. Lar could have meant part of the game involves the character looking into the story of the past dragon knights (Maxos era) and researching technology etc from that age.
As I said I may be wrong but we will find out for sure next week unless Lar answers in the meantime.
